It’s that time of the year again; the start of a new one. Even though the days are long, dark, and somewhat uninspiring, this time of year always inspires me to reflect, celebrate, simmer, and make adjustments. Every year I sit down and ask myself a set of questions about the previous year and how I want to approach the one ahead. In 2022, I sent out zines to my Catdroool Club subscribers with these reflection questions. I’m not going to spill all my juicy intimate thoughts to my small audience of followers here, but here are some of my thoughts on the previous year, and how I’m approaching 2024.

Last year I said “yes” boldly. I said “yes” to my art practice, my art community, and my dreams, I began the year with an artist residency in Puebla, Mexico, I returned and had my first solo art show, and opened a community art space in October. It was incredible. And I’m also exhausted. This year I look forward to saying “yes” to myself more, finding more balance, and hopefully taking many more trips to King Spa.
2023 tested me. I dealt with (and am still dealing with) a very difficult situation in my home with one of my cats. I watched several friends lose loved ones very young and unexpectedly. I witnessed (and am still witnessing) a genocide take place from the small screen of my phone. I don’t doubt 2024 will bring more lessons. Pain and loss remind me that good days aren’t guaranteed, so seize the freakin’ day.
What to expect from Catdroool in 2024?
In 2024 I’ll be spending more time focusing on Catdroool Club, my monthly art subscription. I’m kicking off the year with a risograph calendar/collage print. I’m excited to pour more into this part of my practice.
Expect more tattooing, one of a kind clothing, and the occasional zine. I’m also working on a few exciting freelance projects, and can’t wait to share more.
