About this sketchbook

STARTED: NOVEMBER 2025 • COMPLETED: DECEMBER 2025

I acquired this sketchbook from Il Papiro, a wonderful paper store in Italy last summer. The store specializes in marbled papers, books, stationary, etc. and offers classes for people to make their own marbled paper. It was one of those purchases where I tried to look deep into myself and really question if I needed another sketchbook. I’m so glad I bought it.

I started this sketchbook on a trip to Mexico City last November. It was my sixth time visiting CDMX, I love going there. Every time I visit I feel this beautiful balance of comfort and discomfort. I find comfort in the temperate climate, the kind people, delicious food, ease of getting around and relaxed pace. I find a beautiful discomfort in being a place where people are not speaking my native language and the sidewalk is uneven, forcing me to pay attention to every step. I love feeling comfortably challenged when I’m there. Here are some drawings I made while I was there.

It’s no mystery that I love drawing animals, especially my pets. Here are some sketches of my cat Cooper and my family’s chihuahua, Louie.
