In 2021 I saw a need in my neighborhood for a hyper-local art fair that celebrated community, and was accessible for vendors to participate. As an artist who relies on selling my work in person, I’ve done my fair share of markets. They all offer something slightly different, and some have very prohibitive booth fees with the promise of foot traffic.
I felt inspired to offer a unique experience to artists and neighbors in Logan Square through the first Palmer Square Art Fair, so I got a permit, met with the Palmer Square Park Council, and made it happen. It was an incredible day.
We are coming back for a third year at Palmer Square Park for two days! This year’s fair will take place on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. We are currently accepting applications for vendors, volunteers, and sponsors!
Vendors
This summer’s event will feature different vendors each day. As an organizer and curator, I strive to include a diverse selection of artists – not only diverse in identity and background, but diverse in terms of business size, reach, and type of art. (For more information on my selection process, follow this link.) I love to bring together artists who have never sold their art, artists who have sold their art for 10 years, and everything in between.
Volunteers
Palmer Square Art Fair relies on volunteers every year to promote the event, run the event, and restore our beautiful park to its original state. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:
Hanging up fliers
Coloring fliers
Setting up at the fair
Tearing down and cleaning up after the fair
Vendor support at the fair
Photography + video
Sponsorship Opportunities
Palmer Square Art Fair incurs many costs and does not turn a profit currently. This year we are looking for individuals and businesses who are interested in sponsoring to cover specific costs of goods. These include but are not limited to:
$25 – covers the cost of black and white 8.5 x 11" fliers
$40 – covers the cost of sunscreen for vendors and volunteers
$100 – 500 – covers the cost of signage + wayfinding at the fair
$200 – covers the cost of t-shirt printing for volunteers
$400 – covers the cost of ADA Portable Washroom for vendors + volunteers
We are also looking for the following supplies and materials if you or someone you know is interested in donating:
Printer paper (for fliers)
Water for vendors and volunteers
Sunscreen
Tshirt blanks
10x10 tent (to borrow for the day)
6x2’ table (to borrow for the day)
Thanks for reading! Please share this with a friend you think might be interested in the above opportunities! Until next time. :)
