I skipped last week’s round-up on Substack. If you’re dying to know about my week, you can check it out on the other app that shall not be named. I’m back.
1. Drawing of the week
I’ve been drawing a ton of candles and candlestick (holders) lately. It feels so cozy as things freeze over outside. What is it about a tiny flicker of light that provides so much warmth?
I’m also mega-excited for an art show we’re hosting at Lot’sa in 2025 called “A Light Exists.” The show will feature candlestick (holders?) from artists in Chicago and beyond.
2. Cat pic of the week
I love taking baths in the winter. Nothing makes me feel more human than taking a bath. My cat joined me on the bathmat during my ritual and it made me so emotional (my period is *definitely* not impending). I love him so much and he reminds me about the impermanence of everything.
3. Sign of the week
I love signs. It’s one of my current hyper-fixations, along with: shadows, animal facts, and ornamental iron.
4. Screenshot of the week
Just, wow. I don’t even care if it’s fake.
5. Shadow of the week
Usually I fixate on shadows cast by trees, leaves, dappled light, and gates. This week I was awe-struck by Penny’s shadow on our weekly walk. What can shadows tell us??? Why are they so cool. So soft, yet so clear.
6. Music of the week

I know, I know, Spotify sucks. Radiohead “sucks”. Everything suuuucks. Obligatory reminder to support small and emerging musicians if you can! Buy physical music (cds, vinyl), buy merch, buy concert tickets, engage with their content on (the hellscape of) social media.
Anyway, Spotify has obviously figured out how to make the end of the year soooo fun. We’re obsessed with information about ourselves.
Spotify: Your top song was “Never Gonna Cry Again” by Eurhythmics.
Me: “lol– that’s SO me. I WOULD do that.”
7. Run of the week
This past Sunday I went for a run after getting home from Thanksgiving travel. The sun was setting beautifully over the 606.
In other news…
