Celebrating New Year’s Eve on the moon
For New Year’s Eve this year, we decided to get out of the city and do something different. No NYE party has ever lived up to its hype, anyway. We ventured to Sawyer, MI with some friends, and stayed in a cottage for a few days. On New Years Day, we drove across the street to Warren Dunes, a place I’ve been many times in my childhood and adulthood. This time it was unrecognizable. The lake was frozen beneath our feet, and the fog masked any view of where its rushing waters began. We made cyanotypes on this crunchy, cold moonscape from ice, found objects, and a dead fish.
